Positive: The cottage was ideally located – close to Wells and nearby towns but still peaceful and away from the bustle. It was bright, warm, clean and extremely comfortable, with a charming and spacious feel. The full-fibre broadband worked brilliantly (around 200 Mbps), which made up for the lack of mobile signal, and the smart TV allowed us to use all the usual catch-up apps. We really appreciated the thoughtful welcome touches: milk, tea, coffee, sugar and a pack of Fox’s biscuits. All linen and towels were clean and freshly scented, and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. There was plenty of storage space in the bedrooms, which is perfect for longer stays. The cottage was also very accommodating for our friend’s small dog, which made the visit even better. The dining area was spacious, the kitchen very well equipped, and having two toilets (upstairs and downstairs) was extremely convenient. Despite being on a main road, the property remained peaceful. We also loved the small table with the welcome guide, guest book, local leaflets and even writing paper. These little touches added real warmth and character. We didn’t need to contact the host or Sykes, as everything we needed to know was clearly laid out. Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and we’re looking forward to returning.
Negative: The hoover in the utility cupboard had a strong dog smell from a previous visit, so we chose not to use it. The oven racks and door also needed a clean, which seemed to have been missed during the turnover. These were only small points and didn’t detract from an otherwise excellent stay.
Summary: We had a wonderfully comfortable, relaxing stay in a spacious, well-kept cottage.
